Five day London Explorer Music Tour

27 April – 1 May 2020

This exclusive musical tour of London in spring 2020 will include visits to the city’s iconic sights such as the Royal Opera House and the Royal Academy of Music. In addition there will be concerts and recitals, talks, a masterclass and optional lessons at Steinways Pianos.

Dr Wendy Hiscocks, composer and author of the book Explorer which was published by Revolution Arts this year, is leading this exciting five day musical tour of London next year.

Sunday 26 April 2020: Arrival day

  • Check in at our hotel in Kings Cross.

Day 1 (27 April): London Explorer

  • Private morning coffee recital at an exclusive London club by the River Thames.
  • Lunch at the Methodist Hall.
  • A walking tour taking in London’s famous landmarks.
  • Dinner in Leicester Square.

Day 2  (28 April): Royal Academy of Music Explorer

  • Private tour of the Royal Academy of Music’s ancient keyboard collection.
  • Lunch at Pizza Express!
  • A free afternoon to experience the huge range of activities available in London.
    or 
  • A private or shared lesson with Dr Wendy Hiscocks at Steinways*
  • Early dinner at Cote Bistro, Charlotte Street.

Day 3 (29 April): Cambridge Explorer

  • A day trip by train to the famous city of Cambridge.
  • Lunch in a restaurant opposite King’s College.
  • Masterclass at Corpus Christi College (pictured above).
  • A short ride in a punt on the River Cam*
  • Choral evensong at St John’s College.
  • Dinner in a Cambridge restaurant.
Royal Opera House

Day 4 (30 April): Royal Opera House & Barbican Explorer 

  • A free morning to explore the city.
    or 
  • A private or shared lesson with Dr Wendy Hiscocks at Steinways*
  • Lunch at the world famous Covent Garden.
  • A tour of the glorious Royal Opera House, Covent Garden (pictured above).
  • An early evening dinner at Cote Bistro, Barbican.
  • A concert of Mozart and Mahler at the Barbican featuring the New York Philharmonic conducted by Jaap van Zweden with pianist Daniil Trifonov.

Day 5 (1 May): Handel Explorer

  • A talk on Handel by the film historian Andrew Youdell.
  • A private screening of film The Great Mr Handel at the British Film Institute.
  • Lunch in a traditional English pub
  • A tour of Handel’s house (pictured above).
  • A visit to St George’s Church in Hanover Square – Handel’s Church.
  • The opportunity to play on a replica of Handel’s organ in the church.
  • Farewell cocktails and food at the elegant St Pancras Renaissance Hotel.

Final day (2 May): Departure

  • Check out of your hotel.
  • Your return flights.
